There are things I should have done,
Words I should have said,
Phone calls I should have made
Emails I should have sent
To make the extra effort
And take the next step.
Standing still, feet in cement,
I did not push myself forward.
Tangled in my own life,
Blind to other’s needs.
To be a better daughter, sister and friend,
To put a smile on someone’s face
And brighten their day
But I chose to do nothing.
And now I am left wondering why
Why I chose to sit back.
Why it continues to be the same.
