Royalty Free. I am royalty free. Caitlin is royalty free. Our broadcast class is royalty free. What is royalty free?
Royalty free is music that isn't copyrighted so we can use it in our videos. Many students find the selection lame, dull, and not as good as "real" music. I don't get it. Royalty free music is just as good, if not better than music you hear on the radio or listen to on your iPod. Most of the songs don't have lyrics. None of the song's have titles. But everyone knows all of the beats by heart. If you say, "You know that one that goes da da da da?" Everyone knows exactly which song you mean. The songs are categorized into folders with unique titles like "Mid Tempo", "Electrica" or "Millennium". No one really knows what the titles mean. Like what does "Millennium" sound like? But that is all a part of the mysterious qualities of royalty free music.
On occasion you do find those rare songs with lyrics and a dynamite beat. Our most recent discovery is track 27 in the "hip hop and vocal jam" category, my person favorite. It has legit rap lyrics like "Where my players at?" and "Do you want the money?". So Caitlin and I had the genius idea of downloading all of our favs to our computer so we can make a cd of them and put them on our iPods.
So next time you need some music but don't want to deal with copyrights, just look to royalty free. It never lets you down.
